 7km

East Point Lighthouse to Eastern Kings Fire Department

Leg Description: After a scenic start with the East Point Lighthouse directly behind you, runners will begin Leg#1 on Lighthouse Road. At the 1.5 km mark, Diligent Pond will come into view to the left and on a clear day, across the water, you will be able to see Cheticamp Cape Breton, NS. To your right, you will be able to see the North Lake Windmills peeking over the tree line. At almost the 2km mark you will take a left onto East Point Road on Route 16. At the 4km mark on your left is the Newman Estate Winery. Continue another 3 km where you will finish just before South Lake Christian Church and Eastern Kings Fire Department (Elmira Road 16A)

 East Point Fire Department to Basin Head

Leg Description: Continuing on from the Elmira Road intersection
, on your left, you will enjoy the fantastic views of South Lake Dunes. Be prepared for some hilly terrain on this the longest of the 4 legs. About 3kms into this leg, you will pass Elliott’s General Store, and next to the store is Mossey’s Road famous for its scenic beach. You will soon see Basin Head Beach and Museum on your left. You will take a left on Basin Head Road at the 7km mark and continue into the parking lot in front of the Basin Head Fisheries Museum.

Basin Head to Black Pond

From the Basin Head parking lot, you head back out the Basin Head Road and take a left at the end of Basin Head Road onto Route 16. At about the 3km mark, you will come to Red Point Provincial Park. From here there is a downhill into Black Pond by Peter Chings and Chapman Brothers.

Black Pond to Souris Lighthouse!

The last leg, aka the glory leg, begins with a tough uphill climb. The views of Little Harbour on your left should help with some of the discomforts. Continuing into Souris, runners will turn left on MacPhee Ave and head for the lighthouse where you will find yet another uphill climb to the finish line!
